Anxiolysis is a form of oral sedation that uses a light sedative, like Valium. Since it is not as strong as an oral conscious sedation, anxiolysis is recommended for those with mild to moderate anxiety. The patient will remain conscious for the dental procedure, but any tension and anxiety will fade away thanks to the anxiolysis. He/She will be able to talk and breathe on his/her own during the procedure as well.
Since anxiolysis uses only a light sedative, the patient will even be able to drive home after the procedure. If you have been anxious or nervous about having dental work done, call us to learn about our anxiety-free options for dentistry.
