Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Medical research has proven that the use of our own blood cells during surgery can accelerate the healing and tissue regeneration process. Platelets, plasma, and white blood cells are especially useful. The protein that is carried in blood cells is the magic ingredient that is being used in numerous private office settings for various surgical procedures, including oral surgery.
As we routinely experiment with innovative procedures in our office, we use platelet rich plasma (PRP) in oral surgeries that involve hard and soft tissues. The plasma proteins are derived from our patient via a short in-office procedure. The use of PRPs in oral surgery ensures that the patient has the best opportunity to heal from the surgery. PRP is instrumental in surgical success for patients who have a history of complications arising from hard and soft tissue regenerations.
